New Delhi:
Union Minister Rajeev Chansekhar today said his Cabinet colleague Amit Shah's deep fake video is a “deliberate violation of law” by the Congress and appears to be part of a pattern, indicating it is a strategy. The minister also expressed shock that while attempts to disrupt the elections could be made from across the border, or by Khalistanis from Canada, it was unthinkable that a national party would stoop to such a feat.
“I expect the elements in Canada to do this. I expect people in Pakistan to do this, I expect people in the northern country to do this. But I never thought that a national political party would act in such a brutal way would be like this.” desperate that they will also edit videos and twist the truth to draw a line,” he added.
On why he thinks it is a Congress strategy, the minister cited an incident in Kerala.
“Just a few weeks ago, a Congress Party worker in Kerala changed an image of me with someone else to do something that is definitely in the realm of disinformation and life. So this is not an isolated incident,” he told NDTV. in an exclusive interview.
“This seems to be a pattern. And this seems to be a concerted strategy by a section of Congress as they have no option but to lie their way and win some votes,” he added.
Three persons – one of them from Gujarat – have already been arrested over the doctored video that the Union Home Minister tried to show that he would withdraw the reservations – which the Congress claims is a BJP scheme, which should are implemented if they achieve the objectives. aiming for a majority of 400 in the Lok Sabha. Delhi Police has also summoned Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for questioning in the case.
During the national elections, the video was reportedly shared by the official X member of the Telangana Congress following which many party leaders reposted the video.
The deep-fake video attempted to portray Mr Shah talking about removing all reservations when he was actually referring to removing Muslim-only quota on religious grounds in Telangana. The BJP had scrapped such a quota in Karnataka before it lost power to the Congress.
At a press conference later, Mr. Shah played both videos to show what he actually said and what the doctored content projected.
Stating that the people concerned will have to take action, Mr. Chandrasekhar said it is “shocking that there is a Prime Minister who is a party to it and that there is a national party, or the oldest national party, who is a party to it” .
