JDS leader HD Revanna, named in a sex scandal case along with son Prajwal, has applied for bail after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) pasted a notice outside his house in connection with the case.
The appeal was filed in the Sessions Court in Bengaluru and the matter has been adjourned till tomorrow.
A huge number of explicit videos and photos, allegedly belonging to Prajwal, have gone viral on social media, following which the Karnataka government has constituted a special investigation team to probe the case at the request of the Karnataka State Commission for Women.
According to the complaint, the victim has alleged that Prajwal Revanna and his father HD Revanna sexually abused her. Revanna is the grandson of party supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.
His father HD Revanna, who is also an accused in the case, said, “I came to know that a notice has been issued; I am ready to face everything; I am ready to face SIT.”
Son Prajwal, who is abroad, has sought time to appear before the SIT in connection with the alleged 'obscene video' case.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, the Karnataka Home Minister said that a lookout notice has been issued in the case.
The matter has also turned into a huge political row, with the BJP having forged an alliance with Mr Devegowda's Janata Dal Secular in Karnataka.
State BJP leaders have distanced themselves from the case and Prajwal Revanna has been suspended by his party.
His uncle and party chief HD Kumaraswamy has said that there can be no question of forgiving someone who has committed a crime.
