A Ukrainian National Guard soldier was detained after the attack that killed four soldiers and a worker at a state machine factory in the eastern city of Dnipro.
Among the dead was a woman and doctors “fighting” to save the lives of the injured, Ukraine’s Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky said on Facebook, offering condolences to the victims’ families and friends.
There was no direct sign of a motive for the shooting, the interior ministry said.
A commission will investigate what led to the soldier’s actions and evaluate his mental health when he received a gun permit, Monastyrsky said on Facebook.
“A commission will be set up by my order to investigate the circumstances that led to the actions of a 21-year-old soldier, who was called upon to learn how to defend the country and ensure its security, not to put his colleagues down.” shooting,” Monastyrsky added.
According to state news agency Ukrinform, the factory where the shooting took place is collaborating with the Ukrainian State Space Agency to produce missile and airspace technology, including missile systems and space launch vehicles.
