Lok Sabha elections: RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter Misa Bharti courted controversy after she said that in case the opposition INDIA bloc comes to power after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections “from PM Modi to BJP leaders, they will be behind bars.” Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders were quick to criticize the RJD MP for her 'will jail PM Modi' comment, saying, “She is making her father's 'pratigya' laughable.”
In Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has fielded Lalu Prasad Yadav's eldest daughter Misa Bharti, who is enjoying her second term in the Rajya Sabha, from Patliputra Lok Sabha constituency. Misa Bharti will contest against BJP candidate Ram Kripal Yadav, who defeated her in the last elections.
Misa Bharti had attacked the BJP-led central government at a public meeting and stated that if the INDIA bloc came to power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be arrested.
Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter Misa Bharti said on Sunday, “We are talking about implementation of MSP and he (PM Modi) sees reconciliation in it. He always accuses our family of corruption whenever he comes here (Bihar). If this country is the INDIA Alliance gives a chance (to form the government), then Prime Minister Modi and BJP leaders will end up behind bars.”
These statements by the RJD MP became the final flashpoint between the two parties.
Bharti's comments had not gone unnoticed as a barrage of BJP leaders targeted the two-time Rajya Sabha MP. BJP leaders said Misa Bharti's statement is making fun of her father's (Lalu Prasad Yadav) 'pratigya'.
“With this statement, she is making her father's 'pratigya' laughable,” said BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi.
BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad warned her not to make such statements as her family is completely immersed in corruption.
“What happened to Misa Bharti? The woman's father (Lalu Yadav) has been convicted in the fodder scam. I warn her not to make such statements. Your family is immersed in corruption. You need to stop daydreaming,” he said.
'Should I be afraid? I am still the lawyer in the CBI investigation against Lalu Prasad in the fodder scam. The trial against you, your mother, your brother over the land-for-work policy is still ongoing. Nothing is hidden from the land. The post of Prime Minister is highly respected and you cannot say such irresponsible and shameful things.” Ravi Shankar Prasad added.
