Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati on Saturday said her party is contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections alone and alleged that the rumors about the alliance are all fake.
Mayawati told X (formerly Twitter): BSP is fighting the Lok Sabha general elections in the country on its own with full preparation and strength. In such a situation, spreading rumors about forming an electoral alliance or a third front etc. is grossly fake and wrong news. The media should not lose its credibility by spreading such mischievous news. People should also be careful.
The comment comes days after Bharat Rashtra Samithi president and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and state BSP president RS Praveen Kumar announced that the two parties are forming an alliance in Telangana for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Rao, also known as KCR, said the details of seat sharing will be announced later.
He said there is an ideological similarity between the two parties on several counts as the previous BRS government led by him had implemented Dalit Bandhu and other schemes for the welfare of Dalits and others. Rao further stated that he would soon speak to Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati and that Kumar had already spoken to her about the issue.
Talking about her plans for the Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh, she said, “Especially in UP, the opposition seems to be quite restless as the BSP alone is contesting the elections with great strength. That's why they keep trying to deceive people by spreading all kinds of rumors every day. But in the interest of the Bahuja community, the BSP's decision to contest the elections alone is firm.”
