Annie Raja, CPI candidate from Kerala's Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, is contesting against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday, May 3, saying it is an “injustice to the voters” after the senior Congress leader filed his nomination from Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli – the bastion from his mother Sonia Gandhi before she became a member of Rajya Sabha.
Annie Raja said it is about political morality and by not informing the Wayanad voters of his intentions, Rahul Gandhi was being “unjust” to them.

“In a parliamentary democracy, an individual can contest from more than one seat, so he uses that democratic right. Now his nomination by Raebareli is an injustice to the voters of Wayanad,” news agency ANI quoted the CPI leader as saying.
She questioned Rahul Gandhi's political morals and suggested that his intention to contest Wayanad and Raebareli would be unfair to the voters, while adding, “It is unfair to the voters because he has never once said that he plan is to contest another seat at the same time. political morality.”

Elections were held in the Wayanad Lob Sabha constituency on April 26 in the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls. Rahul Gandhi is the sitting Wayanad MP who is seeking another term and has also filed his nomination from Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli on May 3. The Raebareli Lob Sabha constituency will go to polls in the fifth phase on May 20.
The CPI leader further noted that it is important to speak the truth to the voters and the final decision should be left to the voters.

On the last date of filing of nomination, Congress announced Rahul Gandhi's candidature from his stronghold Raebareli and fielded him along with Kishori Lal Sharma from Amethi seat.
She further asserted that contesting from two constituencies simultaneously is “not a political issue at all” and it “does not make any difference in a democratic setup” irrespective of whether Rahul Gandhi chooses to contest from Raebareli or Amethi. “This is a democratic setup and no constituency is permanent for any candidate,” she said.
