Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Tuesday said his party colleague Raghav Chadha is absent from the campaign for the Lok Sabha elections due to critical eye complications. Chadha, the AAP Rajya Sabha member, might as well have lost his eyesight, Bharadwaj said.
“He is in Britain. There was a complication in his eyes and I was told that it was crucial that he would have lost his eyesight as well,” Bharadwaj said in response to a question about Chadha, who has been in London for over two months.

Bharadwaj reassured that Chadha's commitment to the campaign remains steadfast despite his health problems. He will return soon, ready to contribute to the party's efforts, he said at a press conference.
Earlier, news agency PTI, citing party sources, said Chadha will undergo vitrectomy surgery in Britain to prevent retinal detachment from the eye. According to the report, this condition, which is characterized by the development of tiny holes in the retina, is extremely dangerous to vision and must be treated immediately to prevent permanent damage.
Chadha, a key figure in AAP, has been conspicuously absent from recent political activities. His absence was felt, especially during a period of major challenges for the party, including the arrest of the party's national president and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the liquor policy scam.
However, Chadha has been posting AAP press conferences and speeches by Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal in the run-up to the Lok Sabha Polls through his social media account.
Chadha's visit to Britain last month saw him meet British Labor MP Preet Kaur Gill, known for her “advocacy for Khalistan separatism” and anti-India sentiments on social media.

Chadha's wife, actor Parineeti Chopra, was back in India ahead of the release of her Netflix film Amar Singh Chamkila; the AAP leader remained in London.
Chadha is one of AAP's 40 star campaigners; Jailed leaders Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain are also on the list. The AAP is contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, Haryana and Gujarat in alliance with the Congress Party. In Punjab, where AAP is in power, the Arvind Kejriwal-led party is contesting elections on its own for thirteen seats.
