Prime Minister Narendra Modi recalled how he extended help to his political rivals like Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in times of need. In an exclusive interview with News18, Prime Minister Modi spoke about the incident when a helicopter carrying Sonia Gandhi and another Congress leader, Ahmed Patel, had crashed in Daman.
“I was chief minister of Gujarat when a helicopter with Sonia ji on board arrived in Daman [Sonia Gandhi], Ahmed Patel Sahab crashed. I told them that I am sending an air ambulance but Ahmed Patel Sahab told me that they are all fine and are not in any kind of distress,” Prime Minister Modi was quoted as saying by Money check And CNBCTV18 as said.
'When Sonia ji got sick…'
The Prime Minister added, “Sonia ji once went to Kashi for an election campaign and she fell ill, so I immediately sent people to see what was going on and, if necessary, sent a plane to transport her. “
“…these are my principles and this transcends politics. So for me, whenever a problem arises in any family, it should be solved by rising above politics,” PM Modi said.
'When Rahul Gandhi's planes encountered problems…'
The Prime Minister further recalled that he immediately called Rahul Gandhi when he heard that his plane had encountered some problems. “…I don't remember which election it was. Rahul Ji [Rahul Gandhi] had some problems with his helicopter. I immediately called him to ask if he was in distress,” PM Modi said.
Prime Minister Modi made these remarks while defending BJP chief JP Nadda's decision to rush to the house of Neha Hiremath, the daughter of a Congress councilor, who was stabbed to death by her former classmate Fayaz on the campus of BVB College on April 18 . asked whether this shifted the focus of the Karnataka elections to such issues.
“Nadda ji was attending a program in Karnataka when this incident took place. Who belongs to which party, whether he belongs to Congress; his daughter has been murdered. These are not my values or mentality. And it is a matter of human sentiment, and I believe what he did, even in the midst of the election hustle and bustle, was the humane thing to do,” PM Modi said.
