Florida police recently picked up an alligator that locals say was walking on a sidewalk Fox news. Pinellas Park Police Department shared a post on Facebook in which two police officers carry the reptile away from the scene. Lieutenant Roxanne Pohl said they received a 911 call Thursday night about a large alligator near 49th Street and Park Boulevard near the Publix grocery store. Police added that the gator may have been hungry for a classic “Pub Sub.”
Lieutenant Pohl said the gator initially walked on the sidewalk and “followed all the traffic laws at the time.” The gator later reached the parking lot.
“We can only speculate he was on his way to pick up a Pub Sub,” police said in the Facebook post.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials were notified of the reptile roaming the streets. They not only caught the gator, but also brought it to a nearby body of water, police said.
Neither the gator nor anyone else was injured, she added.
There have been multiple alligator sightings in Florida. Last week, municipal authorities in the city encountered a 5-foot-long alligator in an underground pipe while checking for leaks, cracks or defects.
The creature appeared on Lockwood Boulevard, near Riverside, when they sent a four-wheeled robotic camera into the underground conduit to look for anomalies.
Before that, several alligators have been discovered throughout the state in ponds, rivers, swamps, swamps, and lakes.
