A video of a woman sleeping in the overhead compartment of a plane, where luggage is stored, has gone massively viral on social media. According to New York PostThe incident occurred on a Southwest Airlines flight. The video was originally posted to TikTok, where it has been viewed more than five million times. The clip later also appeared on other social media platforms. While some fellow passengers were stunned, people who recorded the video were heard laughing hysterically at the bizarre sight, the outlet reported.
The woman is seen stretched out comfortably in the luggage compartment, as if in a bed.
It is not clear whether the woman was a member of the crew or a passenger, but her behavior has raised suspicion online. People also wondered how she managed to climb into the storage room.
“How did she get up there? And she's just chilling, maxed out, relaxing, totally cool,” one TikTok user wondered, as reported by the After.
“If there's someone sitting in my seat but I don't want to bother them,” another commented. “With Southwest you can choose your own seat,” a third user joked.
The airline has not commented on the video.
However, this is not the first time such an incident has occurred. In 2023, a passenger was found sleeping in the luggage compartment of a Ryanair flight bound for Ibiza, Spain.
The man was filmed laughing as he got out of the luggage compartment.
In 2019, a Southwest Airline flight attendant climbed into the plane's trash can at Nashville International Airport in Tennessee.
In a statement at the time, Southwest Airlines said: “Southwest employees are known for displaying their sense of humor and unique personalities. In this case, one of our flight attendants tried to have a brief moment of fun with customers during boarding. This is obviously not our normal procedure, and Southwest Crews always puts safety as a top priority.”
