Peshawar:
A district and sessions judge kidnapped by gunmen in restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has been released from captivity, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government spokesperson Advocate Saif said early on Monday.
The judge was kidnapped on April 27 near Tank and Dera Ismail (DI) Khan district, bordering Afghanistan. The judge's driver was uninjured. The vehicle was also recovered at the scene.
The trial judge has been released unconditionally. He arrived home safe and sound. The KPK Police Counter-Terrorism Department said Lawyer Saif said the KPK government is successfully fighting terrorism together with the security forces.
A day earlier, police said no one had claimed responsibility for the judge's kidnapping.
