The bodies were found in Romeoville on Sunday around 8:40 p.m
A couple and their two young children, along with the family’s three dogs, were found shot to death in a suburban Chicago home. New York Post reported. Romeoville police are investigating the murder as a quadruple homicide.
The bodies were found by police in Romeoville on Sunday around 8:40 p.m. after officers stopped by their home for a welfare check. The adults identified as Alberto Rolon, Zoraida Bartolomei and their two children, 10-year-old Adriel and 7-year-old Diego, along with their three dogs, were reportedly shot between Saturday evening and early Sunday.
Romeoville Police Department Deputy Chief Chris Burne said during a news conference Monday that they do not believe the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide. “We are currently investigating this as a homicide,” he said NBC Chicago.
Mr Burne said he did not believe the surrounding community was at risk, although no arrests were reported.
“Due to the time frame that has passed – over 18 hours from the time we were contacted – we are not asking anyone to shelter in place, we are not actively searching for anyone in the area,” he said.
Mr Burne told the Chicago Sun Times“Our detectives and crime scene investigators have collected a tremendous amount of physical evidence over the past 36 hours”
He added: “We were able to determine that this was not a random incident and that there was no basis for a shelter-in-place order.”
“It is important that we conduct a thorough investigation and we have committed our full resources to that task. The victims deserve that,” said Romeoville Mayor John Noak.
Police were called to conduct a welfare check on the home after a member of the family failed to show up for work or respond to calls from relatives all day.
The children were students at Robert C. Hill Elementary, Valley View School District 365U, in Romeoville, Supt.
