Aleema Khan, sister of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, has been summoned by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on charges of “anti-state” statements, The Express Tribune reported.
The FIA has initiated an investigation against her for allegedly “creating a rift” between the people and the Pakistani armed forces and summoned Aleema on February 6 at 11am (local time).
The notice, issued by Deputy Director of Investigations Ejaz Ahmed Sheikh, said that a section officer of the FIA, at the request of the Home Ministry, has initiated an investigation against Aleema.
The report said Aleema has been charged with “creating division between the people and the military through criminal conspiracy and anti-state statements” and has been ordered to appear at the FIA headquarters in Islamabad, the Express Tribune reported on Saturday.
The notice was issued under Section 160 of the Pakistan Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and stated that Aleema must ensure her presence in the investigation or face legal action.
Aleema received the notice at her residence in Lahore.
Imran's sister also skipped summons from the FIA Cyber Crime Wing for allegedly spreading “fear and panic” in the society.
In the notice issued in this regard, Aleema was directed to appear at the FIA Cybercrime Reporting Center at 11am on Saturday to provide clarifications.
Earlier, the FIA had also summoned 65 people, including several journalists and social media activists, for allegedly waging a malicious campaign against judges and institutions, the Express Tribune reported.
According to details, the FIA was “fully mobilized against conducting negative campaigns with insulting and misinformation against the Chief Justice, high judges and state institutions on social media”.
