Ankara:
About 700 people, including Turkish, Palestinian and Northern Cypriot citizens, have applied to Turkey for evacuation from Gaza, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Yildiz said on Thursday.
Ahmet Yildiz said in parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee that 322 Turkish citizens, 104 citizens of Northern Cyprus and 214 Palestinian relatives of Turkish nationals were awaiting evacuation.
He added that another 55 Turkish officials, including state media and health ministry staff, were among those waiting.
During a visit to Egypt last weekend, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had said that there were about 300 Turkish citizens in Gaza and that about 30 of them had been evacuated since fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas began on October 7.
