Tel Aviv:
Hamas announced on Sunday that its commander in the West Bank was one of four people killed in a raid by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
The man has been identified as Alaa Shreiteh, 45, commander of Hamas' al-Qassim brigades in the West Bank. Shreiteh was previously imprisoned in Israel between 2002 and 2016.
The IDF exchanged fire with Hamas on Daryl al-Ghusun on Saturday.
According to the IDF, a 12-hour firefight took place in the Tulkarem area of the West Bank between its forces and Hamas militants, during which four Hamas men were killed.
However, Alaa Shreiteh's identity was revealed early on Sunday by the al-Qassim Brigade.
