WFI president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has defended himself
The president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, has become a hot topic of conversation after a video went viral on social media showing him beating a young wrestler. However, a day later, Singh explained why he lost his cool and revealed that the youngster had been found guilty of age fraud in the U-15 Wrestling Championship. The youngster was subsequently disqualified from the tournament.
“This kid came to the podium and insisted on competing in the championship while found guilty of age fraud. I didn’t allow him and politely told him to get off the podium because we had already disqualified 5 other wrestlers who were disqualified. found guilty of doing age fraud and anything they hear from UP not just from UP, I didn’t allow any player who is older be it from Delhi, Haryana or any other state If I start this to do on a state basis, then I cannot develop wrestling in the country,” Singh told ANI.
Singh also said that the young boy took his disqualification on his ego and he jumped on the podium and urged the president to allow him to participate. The WFI president said he lost his temper because the boy wouldn’t listen to what he was repeatedly told.

“Our president has clearly said that he cannot participate in this, but he is starting to act against him and start arguing to let him play because he belongs to his own state, but he clearly denied it by saying that if he allows him to play, he must grant immunity to wrestlers from other states,” added Vindo Tomar secretary of the Wrestling Federation of India.
