Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a campaign in Madhya Pradesh's .na on Thursday, May 2. Prime Minister Modi became the Congress leader's main target after he noted that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had abolished inheritance laws so that he could inherit the wealth of his mother, Indira Gandhi.
Replying to the comments, the AICC general secretary said her father did not inherit wealth from the country but the spirit of 'martyrdom'. ANI.

“Prime Minister Modi stood on stage and accused my father of changing some laws to take over her mother's inheritance. My father did not inherit wealth, but the spirit of martyrdom.” ANI quoted Priyanka Gandhi as saying. Addressing the crowd, she said, “You can understand this feeling because you sent your sons to the border. Prime Minister Modi cannot understand this sentiment.”
Priyanka Gandhi was referring to the 1991 assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi by a suicide bomber in Tamil Nadu. She accused the ruling BJP-led NDA of calling them traitors and threatening to throw them out of their house.

On May 2, Modi, while addressing an election rally in .na, accused former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi of scrapping inheritance law during his tenure to save wealth and family property. “The facts surrounding inheritance taxes are startling. When former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi died, her children were to receive her property. But there was previously a rule that before the property went to the children, part of it was taken by the government. ANI Modi quoted.

He claimed that otherwise it would have been taken over by the government after the death of his mother, Indira Gandhi. Modi added: “The Congress had formulated a law in this regard. To save the property so that it does not go to the government, then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi abolished the inheritance tax. After four generations of amassing wealth, now they want to plunder your wealth.”
