Ahmedabad: Jumeirah Group The Dubai-based company aims to have new properties in India by 2030, senior company executives said. As the company aims to double its total footprint globally from its existing 27 properties over the next seven years, the group is exploring locations in India to develop its luxury facility, said Kirti Anchan, managing director. Jumeirah Emirates Towers And Jumeirah Alive. He was here for the hotel’s Ahmedabad roadshow.
The company held roadshows in Delhi and Ahmedabad and is heading to Mumbai to identify potential locations for its new premises.
“We will make an announcement in due course. Currently, our development team is evaluating various parameters to arrive at a property in India. We are exploring both major metropolises and tourist locations to establish our new premises here,” said Anchan.
“With the rising population and awareness among Indian travelers, the average spend on travel is only increasing and the demand is growing due to the rising aspiration value of tourists,” he further said.
According to the company, metropolitan cities in India are among the preferred choices.
“We are clearly looking at the Tier-I market and we are looking at creating a very luxury property here,” said Linda Lewis, Vice President, Global Sales – Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, Jumeirah Group, while in conversation was with reporters on the sidelines of the fair.
There are approximately twelve Jumeirah hotels in Dubai and the company will open two more hotels in the same city next year. The company also has a presence in Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman, among the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC), in addition to China, the Maldives, Indonesia, Spain and the United Kingdom.
“We aim to reach more than 50 properties by 2030. We cannot ignore India as a market. In fact, around 20% of the total tourists and visitors arriving in Dubai come from Gujarat. Ahmedabad is now an international city and with its pace of development it is one of the most talked about places at international exhibitions and networking events and we are not excluding this place from our potential list for our upcoming properties,” Anchan said.
“Our luxury brand will be the right property in the right location that attracts domestic guests as well as people from other regions,” he added.
