Services and Maharashtra were awarded three points for taking the decisive first-innings lead in the drawn Ranji Trophy matches against Rajasthan and Jharkand on Monday. While they resumed day four at 543 for four, Maharashtra ended their first innings at 605 for five. Their innings saw three hundreds from Pavan Shah (136), veterans Kedar Jadhav (182) and Ankit Bawne (131). Jharkhand, who made 403 in the first innings, was 167 for two in the second when the match here was called off.
The result was also a foregone conclusion in the Group A match between Service and Rajasthan in Delhi.
Rajasthan, who were 131 for nine in their first innings overnight, were bowled out for 153 all out.
Rajasthan were following on at 130 without loss when the captains decided to shake hands. Services secured the all-important three runs with 466 in their first innings.
Rajasthan's improved batting effort in the second essay saw openers Abhijeet Tomar and Yash Kothari score fine half-centuries.
Meanwhile, Yash Dhull's delicate technique against raw pace was exposed by Umran Malik as Delhi's young batting stars collectively struggled in sea arm-friendly conditions with only 42 overs of play possible over four days of a Ranji Trophy Group D.
After losing to Puducherry in the opening match, Delhi under new skipper Himmat Singh recorded their first point of the season as the match ended with visitors reeling at 134 for six.
