Former England cricket team skipper Michael Vaughan called the Indian cricket team “one of the most underperforming sporting teams in the world” after their heavy defeat in the first Test match against South Africa at Centurion on Thursday. India were completely outplayed by the hosts and it meant the wait for a Test series win in South Africa continued after the defeat. “Do you think India, in terms of cricket, is one of the most underperforming sports teams in the world?” Vaughan asked fellow pundit and former Australian cricketer Mark Waugh during their discussion on FOX Sports.
Waugh didn't give a direct answer and Vaughan continued: 'They haven't won much recently. I think so (an underperforming side). They win nothing. When was the last time they won something? With all the talent they have, all the skills.”
People here may abuse Michael Vaughan for this, but he's absolutely right. With the amount of talent and resources in the country, India is the most underperforming cricket team in the world!

Vaughan further said that India were successful in winning the last two Test series against Australia away from home, but when it comes to white-ball World Cups, they have failed in both formats.
“They have won twice in Australia (Border-Gavaskar Trophy series wins in 2018/19 and 2020/21). Great, but the last few World Cups have been nowhere, and the last few T20 World Cups have been nowhere.”
“You go to South Africa, who, you know, are useful in Test match cricket and to achieve such a feat… I mean, with all the talent they have and the resources they have, I don't think they win something. ” added the former England cricket team captain.
