Rohit Thakur said directions have been given to set up a special high-level committee at the university or educational institution level to monitor and prevent the use of unfair means in examinations.
The Himachal Pradesh government has adopted a “zero tolerance” policy towards the use of unfair means in exams and all educational institutions have been ordered to take strict action against those found guilty, Education Minister Rohit Thakur said on Sunday.
“Exam malpractice is a matter of serious concern because it undermines the whole purpose of conducting exams, and maintaining the sanctity of exams is the government’s top priority to encourage honest and hard-working students,” he said in a statement issued here. Thakur claimed it was the duty of the state government to ensure free and fair examinations and to take all proactive measures to prevent malpractice. the use of unfair means in examinations. “The commission would be held accountable, should such malpractice be found,” he added. Directions have also been given to the vice-chancellors of all private universities to prevent unfair means in exams and the students involved in unfair practices will face the strictest possible measures, the statement said.
“The number of flying squadrons would be increased to carry out surprise checks at examination centers and senior officers of the education department have also been ordered to conduct a vigil,” the minister said.
