The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with THDC India Limited (THDCIL), a central public sector undertaking to undertake advanced research and development activities in science, engineering and technology feed. The MoU aims to conduct research studies, pilot projects and consultancy assignments under the guidance of faculty members. The agreement has a term of five years.
These joint efforts include research studies in energy conservation, alternatives to lithium-ion storage batteries, nanotechnology for electric vehicle batteries, green hydrogen, geothermal technology, climate change issues, waste management/recycling, water management/conservation, eddy-induced vibrations , tunnel techniques, biofuels, improvements in grid stability and various other relevant areas, the institute said in a press release.
As per the MoU, IIT Delhi will provide essential infrastructural support and access to scientific, engineering and engineering expertise. These resources will play an important role in facilitating R&D activities, in line with the institute’s academic activities.
RK Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, THDCIL, said the organization will actively reach out to IIT Delhi to initiate collaborative projects and work with research groups within the institution. “THDCIL is committed to providing comprehensive financial support for operational expenses and the cost of research and development activities. This support will enable IIT Delhi to continuously undertake R&D projects on mutually agreed terms, strengthening their role as a knowledge partner in joint research efforts,” Vishnoi said.
IIT Delhi, with the support of THDCIL, is also looking to leverage its expertise to collaborate with national and international agencies. This involvement focuses on both fundamental and translational research solutions. Moreover, the institute will involve more faculty members from relevant disciplines and effectively spread the collaborative activities.
“This collaboration between THDCIL and IIT Delhi represents a significant step forward in research, innovation and technological advancement, with the potential to deliver breakthrough solutions across industries and domains,” the THDCIL CMD said.
