A student from Malleshwaram Pre University College, who insisted on being allowed to write an exam while wearing a burqa, was advised by the principal, after which she agreed to take it off and appeared for the exam, here on Thursday.

The student insisted until the last minute that she be allowed to write exams with a hijab. Although authorities denied her requests, the student remained adamant. However, the director, who was on examination duty, approached the student and told her about the rules.
He also told her how important it is for her to write exams, after which she agreed to remove it, according to education ministry sources.
Education Minister BC Nagesh has said many times that students wearing hijab or any clothing symbolizing religion should not write exams.
