Prime Minister Modi highlighted his government’s achievements over the past nine years, saying the number of universities in India has grown from about 720 in 2014 to 1,100.
Speaking at the Rozgar Mela, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reminded people that his government has established IITs and IIMs in the country every year between 2014 and 2022. He further added that in 9 years of Bhartiya Janta party rule, his government sought to transform the education system in the country by establishing a number of higher education institutions in India.
While virtually addressing the Rozgar Mela, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Between 2014 and 2022, new IIT and IIM were established every year. There were few in the country before that. Similarly, only seven All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS) served the country for seven decades. But today, 1500 AIIMS will be built in the next 7 years, some of which are already operational.”
Highlighting the achievements of his government over the past nine years, PM Modi said the number of universities in India has grown to 1,100 from about 720 in 2014, while there are now 700 medical colleges against 400 before. In addition, he claimed that on average his government spends his year trying to establish a new Industrial Training Institute (ITI) with skills development courses.
He further emphasized the infrastructural development of the educational institutions to meet the current demands of the labor market and structural reforms in the country’s higher education. While sending job letters to 71,000 people across India, Prime Minister Modi said his government has changed the recruitment method to reduce instances of corruption and nepotism.
In his virtual address at the event, Prime Minister Modi referred to his meeting with CEOs of leading global companies including Walmart, Apple, Foxconn and Cisco and argued that there is an “unprecedented positivity” among industry leaders towards India. Foreign direct investment and the country’s record exports have created jobs in all corners of India, he said, noting that the nature of jobs was constantly evolving and supporting emerging sectors.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will soon complete nine years of his rule, said that the country has seen a revolution in the start-up sector and their numbers have risen to almost a lakh from a few hundred before 2014. He claimed that in these 9 year, about 10 lakh jobs were created in India by the startups. PM Modi shared the development numbers over the past year and said that the length of rural roads has increased from 4 lakh km to 7.25 lakh km while the number of airports has steadily increased from 74 to nearly 150.
