Yogi Adityanath announced that two new medical colleges will be established in Shamli and Mau districts of Uttar Pradesh with a minimum capacity of 100 students
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, announced plans to establish two new medical institutions through the public-private partnership (PPP) model. He announces that the signing of the Memoranda of Understanding for the establishment of medical institutions has been carried out. The two medical colleges will be located in different locations in Uttar Pradesh, one in Mau district in eastern UP and the other in Shamli district in western UP. Yogi Adityanath described the development as a “dream come true” and said that six years ago Shamli and Mau districts were notorious for migration and mafia involvement respectively.
Private medical colleges will be established by Gyan Chetna Educational Society in Shamli district and Rajiv Samajik Shiksha Sewa Sansthan in Mau district. Under the agreement, these partners will build a medical school with a minimum capacity of 100 students, which, once established and operational, will add at least 200 doctors to the healthcare system annually and create at least 1,300 direct jobs, the official press release states.
Describing it as a momentous day for the medical training industry, CM Adityanath said 8 more institutions have received the mentoring certificate as part of the “mentor-mentee” project, which has been set up to foster relationships between new and established nursing schools in order to improve educational standards increase.

Chief Minister Adityanath highlighted the significant progress made by his government in the field of medical education, noting that there were only 12 medical colleges in the state before 2017, while after the implementation of the Prime Minister’s proposal of “one district, one medical college” “There are now 45 medical colleges spread across all districts. Moreover, Adityanath pointed out that 16 medical colleges are under construction in the state, 14 of which are being built by the government and the other two are under the PPP approach.
The Prime Minister also announced, as part of Mission Niramaya, the Quality Control of India (QCI) assessments of the state’s 294 paramedical institutes and 383 nursing schools. The state of Uttar Pradesh is the first to assess nursing and paramedical institutes. With the aim of improving paramedical and nursing education and training, the Mission Niramaya was introduced at the end of last year.
