A dream home for a person who finds peace in isolation is for sale for just $339,000 (about Rs 2.5 crore in Indian currency) and has been dubbed as ‘the loneliest house in the world’.
The tiny house is located on an island (called Duck Ledges Island) nestled between Acadia National Park and the Canadian border, near the coast of Maine in the United States. The house is completely isolated, but with a breathtaking view of the sea.
It was built in 2009 on 1.5 hectares of land, is only 540 square meters with one bedroom and a small kitchen. With an incredible view of the ocean, the person buying the home never has to worry about traffic noise or the chatter of over-friendly neighbors. However, the island is full of seals. To maximize the interior space, the bathroom is placed in an annex.
“The ridges surrounding the island are laden with seals for constant entertainment. Because it has no trees, it offers views of nature that you can’t find anywhere else,” says a real estate agency that listed the property.
“Why choose between island time or alone time when you can have both? † This Maine cottage has its own island where seals are your only neighbors,” the list continues.
The house is well built and only a few meters away from the beach and the view is full of nature that you cannot find anywhere.
The island it’s built on is just a mile from the mainland, according to crow’s distance, and has “good anchor and landing points at any tide”.
