Jaipur:
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday attacked the Center and investigating agencies for summoning his son Vaibhav Gehlot in a currency violation case. He said they had made it a “practice” to disrupt elections. Referring to the Income Tax (IT) raid on Cooperatives Minister Udai Lal Anjana’s premises on Saturday, Ashok Gehlot said it is a ‘drama’ as the probe agency will not find anything.
“Vaibhav was summoned on one day’s notice. It was a simple call asking for information. They could have simply asked. If it turned out that the information was incomplete and financial irregularities were discovered, they could have asked him to appear .It has to be a system,” Ashok Gehlot told reporters at Jaipur airport before leaving for New Delhi.
Ashok Gehlot left for New Delhi on Saturday to attend the screening committee meeting. He further said, “If you want to disrupt the entire election like this, I would call it disrupting the election. They have made a habit of disrupting elections.” Ashok Gehlot said the ED, IT and CBI are our main investigating agencies and they are needed to tackle financial irregularities and other crimes.
“Officers (agencies) have been harassed from the top for nine years through an agenda. Senior officials have to harass junior officers to save themselves… they are operating without following due process,” Ashok Gehlot said. He said entering someone’s home without fault is a crime.
“They are entering houses and conducting raids. This cannot be justified. Therefore, the credibility of these agencies in the country is decreasing. The entire country is discussing the ED, CBI and IT,” Ashok Gehlot said.
Ashok Gehlot said he had said on Friday that raids would be conducted soon after announcing assurances. Today, the premises of our minister Udai Lal Anjana was raided, he said.
