Ghaziabad:
A 23-year-old woman was tortured to death by her relatives who suspected she had stolen jewelery from their home in Ghaziabad. The woman was attacked with a knife and rods to get her to ‘confess’ and her attackers played loud music to drown out her cries for help.
The suspect fled after the woman died. Neighbors became suspicious and alerted the police today when they heard loud music playing non-stop in the house for two days.
Samina, 23, had gone to the home of her relatives Heena and Ramesh in Siddharth Vihar in Ghaziabad on Monday to attend their son’s birthday party. Jewelery worth Rs 5 lakh went missing from the house and the couple suspected that Samina stole it.
Police said Heena, Ramesh and others started attacking the 23-year-old with sticks and rods. They even cut off parts of her body with a knife to force a “confession” and played loud music so their neighbors wouldn’t hear her scream.
When Samina died from the torture, the suspect fled, but left the music on.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravi Kumar said the suspect is being sought. “The suspect played loud music so that Samina’s screams would not be heard. Neighbors alerted us after the music played non-stop for two days. The investigation is ongoing,” he said.
