Kochi:
Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Ernakulam district committee has relieved Center of Trade Unions (CITU) leader PK Anil Kumar from all official duties after his purchase of a Mini Cooper worth Rs 50 lakhs sparked controversy.
Anil Kumar is the General Secretary of the Kerala Petroleum and Gas Workers Union, Kochi.
The decision was made at the meetings of Ernakulam District Committee and CPM District Secretariat held in Kochi on Thursday.
CPIM Secretary of State MV Govindan also attended the meeting.
After the purchase brought him into controversy, Anil Kumar said the car was bought by his wife who works at Indian Oil Corporation.
