Earlier at the 2023 Asian Games, Airee was part of a record-breaking performance.
In the match against Mongolia, Nepalese batters broke three different world records in a match at the 2023 Asian Games. While most batters managed to score runs effortlessly, the man who shone the most was Dipendra Singh, who had scored six consecutive fifties and along the way the fastest T20I fifty was in international cricket. Nepal went on to total over 300 in the match, becoming the first team in the history of the sport to score 314/3 in 20 overs.
Kushal Malla, a 19-year-old left-handed batsman, hit the fastest ever T20I hundred in the history of the game, reaching the three-figure score in 34 balls. He surpassed the joint record of David Miller and Rohit Sharma. The South African and Indian batters had earlier scored fifty in 35 balls.
Batting at number 3, Malla hit 12 sixes and eight fours to remain unbeaten on 137 and take Nepal to its highest ever T20I score of 314 for 3 against Mongolia, who opted to play.
Then came Dipendra Singh Airee, the all-rounder at No. 5, who rewrote the record books and smashed Yuvraj Singh's 16-year-old record with a nine-ball fifty. Yuvra had scored a half-century against England in 12 balls for his fifty during the ICC World T20 match in 2007 on his way to scoring 58. In the innings, Yuvraj had also scored six consecutive sixes against Stuart Broad.
