Former England cricket team captain Michael Vaughan has announced his picks for the 2023 Cricket World Cup semi-finalists and believes Australia will not be among the final four of the competition. The Australian cricket team is the most decorated side in the history of the Cricket World Cup with five titles, but Vaughan said he expects India, Pakistan, South Africa and England to battle it out at the end of the tournament. India has won the tournament twice, while Pakistan and defending champions England have won it once. South Africa has never won the title or even reached the final.
“I can’t wait for the World Cup to start this week. My four semi-finalists are… England, South Africa, India and Pakistan,” Vaughan said in a message on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.

Earlier, Vaughan also said that whichever team can beat India can ultimately win the World Cup.
“It is very clear to me.. Whoever beats #India will win the World Cup.. #INDvAUS.. India’s batting line-up on Indian pitches is ridiculous.. Plus they have all the bowling options covered.. it is the only pressure of the burden that could stop them,” Vaughan had posted on X.
England start their Cricket World Cup campaign with the opening match against New Zealand on October 5. India will play its first match against Australia in Chennai on October 8.
During this epic tournament, 10 countries will play 48 matches over 46 days in 10 different locations.
