The 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) meeting between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad was halted due to crowd trouble after a controversial no-ball decision. Heinrich Klaasen expressed his displeasure with the umpire’s decision and the game had to be halted due to alleged crowd unrest. Even in the absence of triggers, fans started chanting the name of Royal Challengers Bangalore batter Virat Kohli, especially when LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir was around. The game resumed after some time.
Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar was extremely critical of the Hyderabad Cricket Association, saying infrastructure on the ground should be better for players’ safety.
“A little audience problem, we might say, a little audience problem – which is never fun,” said Simon Doull in the commentary.

“No, it’s not,” replied Mpumelelo Mbangwa. “It’s about that failed no-ball, the legal delivery and the complaints. The team is trying to make sure everything is okay, the Lucknow team, the visiting side.
“What’s hard to understand is that most dugouts have what we call flexi-glass,” added Sunil Gavaskar.
“Here we have beach umbrella-type things that offer no protection. Come on, the Hyderabad Cricket Association can provide proper dugouts instead of these makeshift things you see. Obviously this is a problem, a problem,” the former skipper of the Indian cricket team noted.
Klaasen was fined 10 percent of the match fee for violating the IPL code of conduct.
