It was a welcome sight for many cricket fans as Rohit Sharma rallied the troops during Mumbai Indians' win over Punjab Kings in IPL 2024 on Thursday. Hardik replacing Rohit as the MI skipper resulted in a major controversy and there were several reports stating it was alleged that there was a huge rift between the two cricketers. However, during the match against PBKS, we saw Hardik and Rohit talking to each other as the match was about to end and the skipper of the Indian cricket team took over the duties. He was seen setting the field and also had long conversations with the bowlers.
Former Indian cricket team spinner Harbhajan Singh was excited to see Rohit in his 'old avatar' and said he was happy to see senior figures like Hardik, Rohit and Jasprit Bumrah discussing the plans.
“The only good thing I saw today was Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah talking to each other. In the last two overs, I saw Rohit Sharma leading Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma set up the pitch, talked to the bowlers and was back in his old avatar as skipper. Mumbai Indians eventually won the game, but there is a long road ahead for them and it will not be easy,” he said on his YouTube channel.
Mumbai Indians rode performances from Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav to register a thrilling nine-run win over Punjab Kings in IPL 2024.
“Very good game of cricket. Everyone's nerves were tested. We had spoken before the match that the character will be checked in this game. Of course you think you are ahead in the game. But we knew that IPL is the tends to produce these matches. Unbelievable – coming in and playing like that (Ashutosh's knock). Almost every ball hit the middle. Happy for him and happy for his future. We were quite weak in certain overs . Still, a win is a win,” Hardik said during the post-match presentation.
