The Indian cricket team on Monday uploaded a film of the filming ahead of the 2023 World Cup. In the clip, India skipper Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur and Ishan Kishan posed all in front of a 360 degree rotating camera. “Excited to go for #CWC23,” the Indian cricket team wrote while sharing the photo on their official Instagram account. The fans were quick to notice that star Indian batsman Virat Kohli was missing from the role and wasted no time in wondering why the player was left out. Some even said the reel would be incomplete without Kohli.
Watch the reel here:
“I am waiting for Virat, but Virat is not in this video, why?” wrote one fan.
“This role is incomplete without Virat,” wrote another fan.
“Without Virat Kohli in this role is like food without spices”, “Where is our King Kohli” and “King missing” were some of the other comments.
Kohli reportedly had to fly back to Mumbai from Guwahati due to a reported ‘personal emergency’, while the rest of the Indian squad arrived in Trivandrum for their second warm-up match against the Netherlands.
While the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not given any confirmation as to whether Kohli will miss the warm-up match, a report claims that the star batsman will return in time for the match in the Netherlands – which will take place on October 3 – and close to his teammates.
Kohli remains one of the pillars in the Indian team. Although the Dutch warm-up match is not of absolute importance, the batsman would like to have some runs to his name as the last match against England was abandoned due to rain.
