If Mallikarjun Kharge wants to join the BJP, then he should and can come, said Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, while reacting to the Congress president's statement that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi should first read our manifesto and then we can have a discussion on it about feeding”.
“PM Modi can read and write English very well. You (Congress) have written your manifesto in both Hindi and English. Why should there be additional communication?… Why should there be a meeting between Kharge and the BJP at this time?” Sarma said while speaking to ANI
“If Kharge wants to join the BJP, he should do so and he can come, I will go to his house and escort him. Otherwise, what is the requirement for him to meet the Prime Minister?…” Assam CM further added.
Kharge writes to Prime Minister Modi
In an open letter to Prime Minister Modi, Kharge said he would like to meet him to explain the reality of Congress Nyay Patra, which is for the people of India.
The letter shared by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on his social media platform X came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the Congress over its manifesto.
“I am not shocked or surprised by your language or your speeches in recent days. It was expected that you and other leaders of your party would start speaking in this manner after seeing the dismal performance of the BJP in the first phase of the elections. the elections,” Kharge said in his letter.
The Congress has discussed the underprivileged poor and their rights (Nyay), he said.
“We are aware that you and your government have no concern whatsoever for the poor and dispossessed,” Kharge added.
The Congress chief claimed that their election manifesto speaks about the welfare of every section of the society.
