Nearly two months after his arrest in the land scam case, former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's sister-in-law joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday. Sita Soren joined the saffron party at an event in New Delhi after she was reportedly unhappy over not being elected Chief Minister following Hemant Soren's arrest.
The development comes as Hemant Soren chose Champai Soren as his successor for the post of Chief Minister instead of people from his family.
“I worked for the party (JMM) for fourteen years but I never got the respect I deserved from the party. Due to this, I had to take this decision (to join the BJP). I express my confidence in Prime Minister Modi, JP Nadda ji and Amit Shah ji, I have joined the BJP today. We have to save Jharkhand and the lives of our tribal brothers. There is a need for change in Jharkhand…” said Sita Soren after joining the BJP had joined.
JMM expresses his shock
JMM expressed shock at the news and said they had no idea that Sita Soren was planning to join the BJP. Calling it unfortunate for the JMM, MP Mahua Maji said the party is going through a crisis and everyone should maintain some patience.
“We are all shocked. We don't know much about this and why she did this, but the party is currently going through a crisis. So I think everyone should have had some patience. This is a shame for our party. …Elections are just around the corner. Our party is strong. People like this alliance, Hemant Soren worked under the leadership of Shibu Soren and Champai Soren completed the unfinished work. So this is a good message for even the last person. “People want JMM to be re-established and the alliance government to continue. Such decisions are hasty…,” JMM MP Mahua Maji said.
Boost for BJP
The induction of Sita Soren into the party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections is a major shot in the arm for the BJP as it will give them an opportunity to cash in on the legacy of JMM stalwart Shibu Soren and make a breakthrough into the core vote bank of the BJP. the regional party.
