West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government “jumlebaaz” and “riot is their (Modi government's) only guarantee”. She said at a public meeting in Assam's Silchar, “I don't believe Modi will do anything for anyone.”
“If we win, we will not implement NRC and CAA in the state… How many people will be kept in the detention camp? This election will be terrible. I have never seen such a black and corrupt election. .Riot is their (Modi government) only guarantee. I don't believe Modi will do anything for anyone. This government is a 'jumlebaaz' government… I am not afraid of any threat,” Banerjee was quoted as saying by ANI as said.
Her statement came on the occasion of Ram Navami. In a tweet Early Wednesday, she had called on citizens to “maintain peace, prosperity and development for all.” A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief for “asking to maintain peace instead of “giving the message of peace”.

Rajya Sabha MP and BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has posted a message on social media calling for maintenance of peace, this demeans the festival of Ram Navami just like on the other religious occasions you (Mamata Banerjee) have conveyed the message of peace, but here you are asking to 'maintain peace' instead of giving the message of peace and prosperity, by doing this you are trying to make the Indian to humiliate and Sanatani culture.”
Earlier in the day, BJP leader Amit Malviya said West Bengal witnessed large-scale violence on Ram Navami last year. “It was also partly because Mamata Banerjee gave provocative joint speeches just before the celebrations,” he alleged.
He added that “the responsibility of maintaining peace” in West Bengal on the occasion of Ram Navami rests squarely on Mamata Banerjee. India is watching”.
