NCP (SCP) launched his party's new symbol 'man blowing tura' in the presence of party chief Sharad Pawar at Raigad Fort on Saturday. Seeking support from the party workers in establishing a government that works for the welfare and progress of the common man, the NCP (SCP) chief said, “The trumpet will bring happiness to the people.”
“To establish a people's government we must struggle and therefore we must strengthen the trumpet symbol. It is an inspiration to launch a new struggle for the welfare of the people and a government that works for their upliftment,” he said.
Pawar (83) sought the support of his party workers in establishing a government committed to the welfare and progress of the common man.
NCP state chief Jayant Patil said the trumpet is a symbol of courage, victory and inspiration to fight.
“We seek the blessings of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj from the fort where his coronation was performed, where he spent the last years of his life and where his samadhi is located,” he said.
The symbol was awarded to the party by the Election Commission of India on Thursday.

What does the symbol 'Man blowing turha' mean?
The trumpet, called 'tutari' in Marathi, is sounded to mark the entry of important people, ranging from kings of the past to political leaders of today.
After awarding the symbol to the Sharad Pawar faction, the party said in a post on It is a great honor for our party to get Tutari (Man Blowing Turha) as our symbol for the upcoming elections. Our Tutari is now ready to shake the throne of Delhi under the leadership of Sharadchandra Pawar,”
They quoted lines from a popular poem 'Tutari' written by Jnanpith awardee Kusumagraj.
The NCP, founded by Sharad Pawar, split in July when Ajit Pawar and eight MLAs joined the Eknath Shinde government. The Election Commission awarded the party name and 'bell' symbol to Ajit Pawar's faction.
