A court in Bengaluru on Saturday dismissed the anticipatory bail application filed by JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna in the 'sexual abuse' case. The bail plea came amid reports that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is considering issuing a 'Blue Corner Notice' against MP JD(S) Hassan, who left the country after thousands of his videos went viral on the internet. where he harasses women.
A Blue Corner Notice is issued by the International Police Cooperation Organization to collect additional information from its member states about a person's identity, location or activities in connection with a crime.
Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah held an “important meeting” with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials during which he directed immediate action to arrest Prajwal Revanna.
“We will proceed with arrest with appropriate measures. There is a possibility of the CBI issuing a Blue Corner Notice, which will speed up the investigation,” the officials told the CM, according to a press release from his office.
“They (SIT officials) have assured that they will arrest and recover the suspects as soon as they get the information from the airports,” the report said.
The SIT is said to have sent a request to the CBI, the nodal agency for Interpol affairs in India, seeking a Blue Corner Notice against Prajwal Revanna, official sources said.
“Once the CBI issues this notice, SIT hopes to get information about the whereabouts of Prajwal Revanna,” they said.
33-year-old Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, was the candidate of Hassan's BJP-JD(S) alliance, which went to the polls on April 26.
Explicit video clips allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna have been doing the rounds in Hassan for the past few days, following which the state government constituted the SIT to investigate the scandal.
Prajwal Revanna is said to have flown abroad on April 27, a day after the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls was held in Karnataka. His lawyer had asked him for seven days to appear before the SIT, to which the investigation team replied that this is not possible as there is no such provision.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister was briefed by the SIT officials about the developments so far in the case, his office said in the statement.
The officials explained to Siddaramaiah that Prajwal Revanna, the main accused in the case, is “missing” and a lookout notice has been issued against him and an intensive search is also on.
“Immediate action should be taken to arrest Prajwal Revanna. Decisive and strict action should be taken against those involved in the case,” the Chief Minister said while issuing strict instructions to the officials that negligence and delay in the matter will not be tolerated.
