Pakistan People's Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said on Tuesday that he wants his father Asif Ali Zardari to become president again.
PPP President Zardari, 68, served as president of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013.
Announcing his withdrawal from the premiership race, Bilawal said at a press conference here that the PPP, without being part of the new government, would support PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif's bid to secure a record fourth term as prime minister set. see Zardari as the next president.
Pakistan's current president, Dr. Arif Alvi, will leave office next month.
“I am not saying this because he is my father, I am saying this because the country is currently in a huge crisis and if anyone can put out this fire, it is Asif Ali Zardari,” Bilawal claimed.
“The PPP has decided that we are not able or in a position to join the Federal Government and that we are not interested in involving ministries in such a setup. But we also don't want to see political chaos in the country,” he says. said at the press conference organized after the meeting of the highly empowered Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the PPP under his leadership.
Bilawal said his party was concerned about the election results but decided to accept them “in the greater interest of the country”.
