WhatsApp's updates, no matter how small, often attract a lot of attention due to its widespread use. The recent change in the app's color scheme has sparked conversations among its users. Previously known for its blue theme, the app has now adopted a new green color, a move that has divided opinion among its huge user base.
People in India can also see the change in their apps. If you've recently noticed your app's green interface, rest assured you're not alone.
Why is WhatsApp green now??
Meta, the owner of WhatsApp, wants to offer a “modern, new experience” and “make it more accessible and user-friendly” through these changes.
The company said in a statement that they have changed the way WhatsApp “looks and feels, including spacing, colors, icons and more.”
What are the changes?
The update will be noticeable to both iOS and Android users, with Android users seeing a shift in shading from the previous green.
iPhones, which used to have a blue color scheme in WhatsApp, will see everything from the status bar to the chat list window transformed in the recent design change. Even the links shared in the app now appear green instead of blue.
Android users will also see subtle tweaks to dark mode, which will become even darker, while light mode will offer better readability with extra space.
In addition to the color change, WhatsApp has implemented other updates intended to improve the user experience. WhatsApp recently came under scrutiny for capitalizing some of its words in its message indicators. Some users noticed a change where the first letters of “online” and “typing” were capitalized to “Online” and “Typing” respectively. The change, which was noticed on both Android and iOS, had sparked significant debate online.
