Recently, Miandad advised Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to ask Babar if his captaincy is taking its toll. He also said that communication between Babar and PCB should be clear. His comments come amid criticism of Babar for his strike rate.
“Babar is a world-class batsman. But the board should ask him if captaincy is taking its toll on him. There needs to be an honest conversation between him and the board. If he feels he isn’t both with the bat and leading in the field, then the captain must stay with him, but the board must make it clear to Babar that he is their preferred captain,” Miandad told Cricket Pakistan.
Babar was named Pakistan captain in shortest form ahead of the 2019 Australia series. In the following year, he took over ODI and Test captaincy.

“The players first have to think about playing for Pakistan. Once you want to perform for Pakistan, you will automatically put in an extra effort, whether you are bowling, batting or fielding,” said Miandad.
“Pakistani players need to realize that they are good, that is why they are in the last eleven. The question of whether you are good enough should not be there. You are good, now you just have to deliver what you have asked to do on the day,” he added.
