Two people were killed and two others seriously injured after a chemical tanker allegedly exploded in the Sadar area of Haryana’s Panipat on Saturday.
The incident took place at Coco Chowk near the Panipat Refinery.
According to Sadar’s Station House Officer (SHO), the two injured were treated at a nearby civilian hospital. The explosion was so strong that the roof of the store was completely damaged.
“The incident occurred during the welding work. Two people died and two others are being treated. The roof of the shop was also damaged by the blast,” SHO Ramniwas, Sadar, Panipat said on Saturday.
Local residents said that as soon as Somnath started welding, a fire spark led to the explosion in the gas bottle.
SHO Ramniwas identified the dead as Junaid [driver] from Ghatampur and Pappu in Uttar Pradesh [electrician] from the Gopal colony of Panipat. Meanwhile, one person Mohammed Hussain from UPs Khatmalpur and Somnath was injured and is currently being treated.
