MS Dhoni left fans and pundits alike spellbound when Chennai Super Kings batsman Hardik Pandya hit for three consecutive sixes during the IPL 2024 match against Mumbai Indians on Sunday. Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium witnessed the signature Dhoni knock, with the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman scoring 20 runs in just 4 balls at an astonishing strike rate of 500. At the age of 42, Dhoni has greatly restricted himself to the role of finisher for his franchise and his knock played a major role in taking the total above 200 runs. However, it appeared the blow came at some cost as Dhoni was seen limping with padding around his knee in a video posted on social media.

Dhoni was nursing a knee injury during IPL 2023 and the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman underwent surgery soon after the match.
CSK bowling consultant Eric Simmons earlier said that Dhoni has been struggling with his knee injury but he has decided to bat bravely for the sake of the team.
“Everyone is more interested in his injuries than he is. He is one of the toughest men I have ever encountered. I don't even think we know how much pain he is or isn't. He just keeps going. and does his thing,” said Simmons after CSK's win over MI.
“I'm sure there are some niggles. He just has the ability to ignore what it is and do what needs to be done. We're more concerned about his injuries. When I say 'we' I mean the public ( that) is more concerned about his injuries than he is,” he added.
The match saw Chennai Super Kings defeat Mumbai Indians by 20 runs despite Rohit Sharma scoring a brilliant century in front of his home crowd.
