The photo, posted a few hours ago, has received 13,200 likes on X and users are appreciating it in the comments section for supporting public transportation.
One user wrote: “So simple and down to earth Kumble Sir.”
“The best way to travel to the airport is by BMTC,” wrote another user.
“People don’t give the BMTC buses the credit they deserve, one of the best in India,” the third user wrote.
“Excellent. The elites of society using public transport are good for society. And Kumble is the gold standard anyway,” said the fourth user.
“We need icons to advertise public transport in this way. This way we will have less traffic,” said the fifth user.
Meanwhile, lakhs of private vehicles, including cars, taxis, maxi-taxis, trucks and corporate buses, could remain off the roads on Monday, making commuting difficult for students and office goers, among others, as per the Federation of the Karnataka State Private Transport Associations have called for a ‘bandh’.
The federation has called the bandh to demand a ban on bike taxis, and urged the government to extend the Shakti scheme – which provides free bus rides to women on government buses – to private buses, among other measures.
