New Delhi:
The owner of Rameshwaram cafe in Bengaluru, where a low-intensity bomb blast injured 10 people on Friday, said the suspect saw rava idli before leaving his bag at the restaurant.
Speaking to NDTV, the owner, Divya Raghavendra Rao, narrated the series of events that led to the blast at her Whitefield store.
“My cell phone was not with me when the explosion happened and when I picked it up there were too many missed calls. When I called my team back they told me there was an explosion in the restaurant,” she said.
“The first thing I thought was that maybe the explosion took place because of something in the kitchen. But then we found out that there were no injuries or blood in the kitchen and the explosion took place in the customer area,” said Ms Rao. added.
She said that after watching the CCTV footage, they saw a man wearing a mask and a muffler come to the counter and order a rava idli.
“He took his order and then sat in a corner. He finished his meal and left a bag in the corner before leaving the restaurant,” Ms. Rao said, adding that the blast occurred after some time.
She said fortunately there were no cylinders where the explosion occurred.
Rameshwaram Café is my baby
Ms Rao said she recently delivered her baby and there was no difference between the Rameshwaram cafe and her newborn baby.
“My company is also my baby and the damage to my point of sale hurts me just as much,” she said.
In a gritty message to her customers, she said that the Rameshwaram cafe would come back very soon and strongly.
“The Whitefield branch will operate in the same way as before, with tighter security and more safety systems. We will be back,” she said.
Will help people injured in the Rameshwaram Cafe explosion
Mr. Rao thanked God that there were no fatal injuries in the Rameshwaram café explosion and said she would help the injured.
“There were no serious injuries. Some people who did sustain injuries are likely to recover within 15 to 30 days,” she said.
“We will take care of them to ensure they can return to their normal lives,” she added.
