The deceased body of DMDK president and actor Vijayakanth was shifted to Island Ground, Anna Salai, on Friday morning. The remains will be placed at Island Ground from 6am to 1pm for the public to say their final farewell.
As reported by ANIactor Rajinikanth told the media, “We will never get someone as good as Vijayakanth. There is no one like him in politics and the film world. This loss is irreplaceable.”
The founder and leader of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), actor Vijayakanth, succumbed to COVID-19 at the age of 71 in Chennai on Thursday. The DMDK chief's body was initially placed at the DMDK office for visits by political figures, actors and well-wishers to pay their respects.
Actor Vijay paid his respects to DMDK chief captain Vijayakanth. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ranipet R Gandhi, accompanied by DMK organizing secretary RS Bharathi, also paid tributes to the DMDK chief in Kancheepuram.

In November, Vijayakanth was admitted to MIOT Hospital in Chennai due to a deterioration in his health. Experiencing symptoms of coughing and sore throat, he remained under medical observation for fourteen days.

Fondly called 'Captain', Vijayakanth's life is marked by a prosperous career in the Tamil film industry.
Vijayakanth appeared in 154 films before entering politics and made a significant impact in the South Indian film industry.
While he held a position at Nadigar Sangam, officially known as the South Indian Artists' Association (SIAA), he introduced revolutionary changes. .over, Vijayakanth was a member of the Legislative Assembly twice, representing Virudhachalam and Rishivandiyam constituencies.
