The news shocked many as it comes just ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha Polls.
Who is likely to replace Gautam Gambhir?
The Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was held at the party headquarters in Delhi on Thursday. The meeting focused on discussing Lok Sabha election seats in around 17 states. During the meeting, decisions were taken on over 155 seats, details of which are expected to be released in a few days.
The party will probably announce its list of candidates soon. According to political experts, it is still difficult to speculate who will replace Gambhir for the East Delhi seat.
The Lok Sabha polls, expected in April-May, on the seven seats in Delhi will be a direct battle between the BJP and the candidates of INDIA block partners AAP and Congress.
AAP has fielded Sahiram Pehelwan from South Delhi, Somnath Bharti from New Delhi, Kuldeep Kumar from East Delhi and Mahabal Mishra from West Delhi seats. The Congress is yet to announce its candidates from Chandni Chowk and North-East and North-West constituencies in the seat-sharing deal with AAP
