In its continuous technological advancement, the Indian Railways aims to provide internet connectivity at all railway stations across the country. Free Wi-Fi is available at major Indian railway stations, especially major ones, but is not available at all stations across the country.
Thanks to dedicated efforts, internet access is available at 6,108 train stations. It is noteworthy that passengers at these stations have free access to high-speed internet for half an hour. This service covers the vast area from Northeast India to the Kashmir Valley. RailTel, a retail broadband provider affiliated with the Indian Railways, oversees the Wi-Fi internet service known as RailWire.
At train stations you can use the internet for free for 30 minutes every day. The Wi-Fi service offers speeds of up to 1 Mbps. After the first half hour, a fee will be charged for longer use. RailWire presents a range of internet packages starting at just Rs 10. With this amount, you get 5 GB of data at a high speed of up to 34 Mbps. This package is valid for one day.
The Wi-Fi service is only accessible within the station building. It is important to emphasize that this free Wi-Fi service is limited to use at the train station. Railwire’s internet service does not extend to rail travel. Details about RailWire’s internet plans are available at Railwire.co.in. Payment options include internet banking, wallet, credit card and UPI. You have the flexibility to select the payment method that suits you.
