More than 200 Hindu groups from Britain welcomed the Jan. 22 dedication ceremony in Ayodhya on Thursday. They said this “historic moment” would mark the culmination of nearly five centuries of “dedicated efforts by countless devotees”.
In a joint statement, the outfits said they hoped households in Britain would celebrate Lord Ram's 'homecoming' in Ayodhya on January 22, just like Diwali.
“We, the representatives of the Dharmic (religious) communities in the United Kingdom are pleased to welcome the inauguration ceremony of the Temple of Sri Ram (Ram Mandir) in Ayodhya, India, on January 22, 2024,” the statement said.
It says that Lord Ram is revered as the 'embodiment of Dharmic traditions around the world” and is an enduring symbol of “Hindu/Indian civilization”.
“The dedication of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the holy birthplace of Sri Ram, is a historic moment that marks the culmination of nearly five centuries of dedicated efforts by countless devotees,” the organizations said.
“As we approach this auspicious occasion, we hope that households across the United Kingdom will celebrate this homecoming of Sri Ram to Ayodhya as a celebration of Diwali,” they said, adding, “May this Mandir serve as a luminous beacon of heap. and peaceful coexistence to reflect the ideals of 'Ram Rajya', among the communities around the world.”
